Second certified carbon footprint completed, a 10% reduction in emission intensity, and full renewable energy coverage for the Massarosa plant. Between 2022 and 2024, Salov strengthens its ESG commitment, delivering concrete results for the environment, people, and communities.
Massarosa (Lucca), 12 November 2025 – Salov S.p.A., a leading global industrial group in the olive oil sector and owner of the historic Filippo Berio and Sagra brands, presents its 2024 Sustainability Report, drafted in compliance with the 2021 GRI Standards and inspired by the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards). The document, validated by SGS, captures the most significant sustainability performances for the 2022–2024 period and includes all consolidated companies within the Group.
This journey reflects the full integration of sustainability into Salov’s corporate strategy, in line with the goals of the European Green Deal and with a long-term value creation vision.
Resilience and Competitiveness in a Challenging Context
Despite the difficulties affecting the olive oil sector—from rising raw material costs to market demand pressures and exchange rate volatility—Salov has maintained solid sales volumes, confirming its international competitiveness. Prudent management of stock and working capital has enabled continued investment in strategic initiatives, supporting the Group’s growth, innovation capacity, and resilience in the face of market fluctuations.
ESG Governance and Strategy
In 2024, Salov completed its second organization-wide carbon footprint assessment (Scope 1, 2 and 3), certified by SGS according to ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol.
This represents a major milestone and the starting point of a multi-year carbon reduction plan aligned with international best practices.
Sustainability governance is supported by a structured risk management system covering economic, financial, and social dimensions, under the supervision of the Bright Food Group.
Key monitored indicators include liquidity, debt levels, workplace safety, and employee well-being, confirming an integrated approach to risk and performance management.
As part of its ESG efforts, Salov achieved an ESG Verify score of 78/100, indicating a “very high” performance level. The rating was issued by Cerved Rating Agency, which evaluates creditworthiness, ESG performance, and debt issuance.
In October 2025, Salov was among the companies awarded in the 1st national edition of the Premio Industria Felix ESG – Italy’s Sustainable Competitiveness Award, a prestigious recognition for the most competitive Italian companies in ESG performance. Based on an investigation conducted by Industria Felix Magazine on approximately 970,000 financial statements of Italian companies, Salov confirmed its competitiveness in environmental, social, and governance areas, standing out particularly for its high share of renewable energy consumption, supplier ESG screening, and adoption of anti-corruption safeguards (MOG 231, Code of Ethics).
Statement from the CEO
“Over the past year, we have taken significant steps to improve our sustainable practices, implementing initiatives that reduce our environmental impact and promote the well-being of the communities in which we operate,” said Gianmarco Laviola, CEO of Salov S.p.A.
“Our mission goes beyond producing excellent olive oil: we aim to create a future in which every business decision considers people and the environment.”
