Pilot production plant
In 2010, Salov launched a pilot production plant for refining vegetable oil, allowing the company to estimate the energy requirements for each phase, as well as the results in terms of end product quality.

The site is a mini refinery that reproduces all of the phases of the production process in order to analyze the reactions of the product being refined, evaluate the related requirements in terms of electrical, thermal and hydro energy; assess the potential for energy recovery; and to verify the quality of the oil at the end of the cycle.

Salov will use this plant to evaluate the processing of crude vegetable oils, both from a strictly financial point of view, and from a qualitative standpoint. In addition, researchers and students from the University of Pisa are collecting data on experimental processing ready to apply it on an industrial scale.

The plant is currently being finished and will be operative in 2012.
